Lessons
What you can learn
One teacher, one room, half an hour a week. Start with the instrument you're curious about — you can always add another later, and Bill teaches them all.
A classical score on the stand. Rock posters on every wall.
Every style
From Bach to metal
There's a classical guitar score on the music stand and a wall of rock posters behind it. That says a lot about lessons here: bring the music you love — a Bach prelude, a blues shuffle, a metal riff — and Bill will help you play it.

Your teacher
Meet Bill Sanderson
Bill grew up in Utica, New York, in a house with a piano teacher in it — his mother. He studied guitar with Carman Caramonica as a teenager and classical pieces at the Crane School of Music, moved to Virginia in 2003 to teach at Orange Music, and opened B# Music here in 2009.
He'd rather talk about your music than his, so here is what his students say instead: he's patient, there's a new song to learn most weeks, and lessons with him are easy to stay with — some families have been coming for more than ten years. He still takes lessons himself.

Free intro visit
Before your first lesson
Lessons are one-on-one, once a week, in person: $35 for 30 minutes. Your first visit is free, and it isn't a lesson — it's a conversation. Tell Bill what you'd like to play, get straight advice on which instrument to buy and where, and see the room.

Questions and answers
How much do lessons cost?
$35 for a 30-minute private lesson, once a week — the same price for every instrument.

Instead of a trial lesson there's a free intro visit: a conversation at the studio about what you'd like to play, advice on choosing an instrument, and a chance to meet Bill.
How old do students need to be?
Children can start from age four, and adults can start at any age. Bill's students range from four to seventy.
What instruments can I learn?
Acoustic, electric and bass guitar, piano and keyboards (including synthesizer), mandolin, banjo, ukulele, and songwriting.
Do I need my own instrument before I start?
Not yet. Come to the free intro visit first: Bill will help you choose the right instrument and tell you where to buy it, locally or online.
How do I book?
Call or text the studio, or send an email, and ask for a free intro visit.
